Schultz Financial Management is an independent wealth manager in Orange, CA, with offices in Cupertino/Silicon Valley.
Our Wealth Management service helps clients to secure all areas of their lives affected by their financial well-being for the long-term.
Preparing a Financial Plan
Wealth management is not a short-term process, so the relationships we build with clients must also stand the test of time. Because Schultz Financial is an independent CFP firm, all our incentives, financial and otherwise, are aligned solely with the interests of our clients.
We align our interests from the outset of the relationship through our onboarding/assessment process. It is here that we develop a comprehensive knowledge of a client's top-line goals and objectives.
We review all of the relevant financial data, then prepare a proposed financial plan for review.
Schultz Financial Management sees the real value, not in the written plan itself, but in the thoroughness of our process and the exchange of ideas during the plan review.
The Schultz Financial plan typically consists of the following 6-step process:
1. Risk Management / Insurance Plan
We assess the risks clients face in the areas of
- long-term care
- personal liability.
We then make recommendations on coverage, carriers, limits, and deductibles, and suggest areas of discussion between clients and their insurance agent.
2. Income Tax Planning
Schultz Financial reviews tax returns, analyzes current and projected income tax exposure, and makes recommendations on how clients may reduce their future income tax liability.
3. Cash Flow / Retirement Planning
At the outset, we project future cash flow requirements (from the day of the consultation to a projected end-of-life date) that are affected by:
- portfolio values
Schultz Financial also determines the most tax efficient way to take income during retirement. Our assessment includes recommendations with respect to
- conversions, and
- payout options...
of various retirement plans including IRAs, Roth IRAs, pensions, and Social Security benefits.
4. Investment Planning
We thoroughly analyze a client's existing investment portfolio.
If necessary, we help clients to reassess and refine their investment objectives so they more closely align with the comprehensive wealth management plan. Schultz Financial Management's approach is “big picture” in nature and accounts for all of a client's long term goals.
The final plan will also include a disciplined strategy for managing the downside risk of the investment portfolio - a key strategy in securing the long-term goals of our clients.
5. Estate Planning
Among the most important considerations of any wealth management plan is: what happens to my remaining wealth when I die?
Schultz Financial Management's customary estate plan works to minimize estate taxes, preserving as much client wealth as possible to be bequeathed in accordance with a client's wishes.
Working with a trusted estate planning attorney, Schultz Financial ensures ensure that all the necessary estate planning documents (wills, beneficiary designations, trusts, powers of attorney, etc.) are present and in order.
6. Implementation and Monitoring
Once the wealth management plan is completed according to a client's wishes, Schultz Financial Management implements the plan.
Schultz Financial's Active Portfolio Management process is what preoccupies us on a day to day basis as we manage a client's investments in accordance with the plan. This includes:
- Monitoring and rebalancing investment strategy allocations.
- Buying and selling individual stocks within managed accounts.
- Providing investment performance reports to you on a monthly basis.
Monitoring the plan is a vital function as well, which is why Schultz Financial ensures unfettered lines of communication remain open at all times. Clear, honest communication about any meaningful life changes allow us to adjust and refine the plan so it reflects what is happening in our clients' lives going forward.
